For this job, a well-known organisation, offering flexible working patterns, are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key part within their management team. You will be given responsibility to work independently and be given a diverse workload.
Your new role
You'll manage capital funded and life cycle cost procurement processes for a programme of built asset projects through various stages from inception to disposal. You'll be responsible for managing a team of Quantity Surveyors which will include planning, programming and co-ordinating their workloads. You'll ensure effective delivery of cost management services to projects ranging in value from £5k to £40m. This will include preparation of initial benchmark costings, tender documentation, preparation of contracts, life cycle costs, reporting on estimates, procurement events, project adjustments, monitoring design consultant payments, risk management, value engineering and liaising with internal/external stakeholders and consultants.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll be a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, MRICS, with extensive experience providing cost management services on all sizes and scopes of projects. You'll be able to manage and report on construction and non-construction related budgets such as furniture, fixtures, fees and land acquisition. You'll ideally have experience in private practice working in a 'client side' capacity to a wide variety of clients. As a manager, you'll have a proven track record leading a team of Surveyors managing a large programme of built asset projects up to £40m. You'll have a detailed knowledge of different forms of construction contracts including NEC3. A working knowledge of central government and other sources of funding along with restrictions of access and procurement would be ideal. Multi-disciplinary practice experience and project management is also desirable.
