Coventry City Council is an exciting place in which to take your surveying career to the next level. This bustling hub is currently undergoing a period of transformation in which we’re developing large and ambitious projects that have regional importance and are redefining the city’s potential. Generating tourist and employment opportunities such as the 3 million square feet Friargate site which will incorporate residential properties, offices and hotels, and enhancing university life with the creation of student accommodation within the Belgrade Plaza, these challenges are just the tip of the iceberg. That’s why we’ve created the new post of Development Surveyor to identify and progress these challenges, plus contribute to ongoing works such as phase II of the Cathedral Lanes project.
Joining the City Centre and Major Projects team, you will investigate and launch the development of new sites, plus support the implementation of existing works. Taking responsibility for ensuring Council land and properties are realising their full potential and are being valued accordingly, you will therefore seek to exploit development opportunities, contributing to every stage of the projects. Working with a variety of stakeholders such as developers to ensure relevant consents are obtained, you will also prepare reports and valuations, and see to it that negotiations proceed, financial agreements are met and transactions are completed. Offering your recommendations to the Senior Development Executive, you will play a crucial part in the ongoing rejuvenation of the city.
This is a unique opportunity to work on challenges that are already underway, and aren’t just in the pipeline. To make the most of this role, you will therefore be comfortable working at a fast-pace, applying your up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation to ensure the seamless completion of development deals. As a member of RICS with considerable experience in either the private or public sector, you will have hands-on knowledge of performing valuations and negotiating property transactions. You will also be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels. With a good grasp of development appraisal techniques, plus the technicalities of grant regimes and external funding, your solid communication skills will prove beneficial when motivating staff and reconciling conflicting objectives, and you will be able to meet deadlines and manage your own workload.
If you have the confidence and the relevant experience to further the progress of this incredible city, then get in touch today. We take great pride in our work – and we’re looking for a likeminded individual to share our enthusiasm.
