Principal Minerals and Waste Planner

A fantastic opportunity has become available to join a diverse local authority in the Home Counties that are at the forefront of delivering high-density major projects. This opportunity will give you the chance to work on a variety of major minerals and waste applications as well as larger land applications.

Our client is seeking an experienced Planner with extensive minerals and waste experience to join a larger team for a minimum of 9 months. This role will be strongly focused around being the lead professional in the Planning Team and deputising, as appropriate, for the Team Manager. You will have extensive knowledge and experience of the development management process and lead on the handling of major proposals. The primary purpose of this role is to lead on major and complex planning applications and pre-application enquiries alongside, being the lead specialist for the team.

You will also be required to liaising with members, District and Borough Councils, other authorities, community groups, developers and their representatives, and other key stakeholders. The work will involve attendance at Planning Committee (virtual) and other public meetings (dependent on the Covid Level) and may involve acting as an expert planning witness on behalf of the authority. You may also be asked to supervise some of the more junior members of the team.

Successful candidates will have a degree in Town & Country Planning or an affiliated subject and have acquired practical experience as a Senior or Principal Planner working on Minerals and Waste applications.
