Thanet District Council is on the up and now is an exciting opportunity to join the council and the Estates department which is expanding and growing.
Thanet District Council (TDC) are looking for an experienced Decarbonisation Surveyor to lead and advise on smarter energy solutions across the council’s commercial and operational portfolios, including managing decarbonisation programmes and projects; advising both the Capital and Repairs and Maintenance teams. The role will also lead on the delivery of the council’s Estates Net Zero Strategy, ensuring the council’s properties within the core carbon footprint are net zero by 2030; influencing and informing all approaches and property strategies to decarbonisation.

Core duties of the role will be
Leading on and managing projects which are centred on generating new approaches to project design regarding energy solutions, e.g. the incorporation of air source heat pumps, LED lighting, solar panels and insulation. Project values will range from £30K to £150K, accumulating to reach budgets of £1.2m to £2m. The successful candidate will be required to assess, analyse, measure and monitor energy consumption and efficiency across the commercial portfolio, as well as evaluating the usage and cost of energy consumption in each building. This will identify and inform required decarbonisation projects and programmes.
This post requires you to have a full driving licence and own transport or requires travelling to sites in a timely manner equivalent to motor travel in your own car.
The successful applicant will ideally have Chartered status and a degree in the built environment, engineering, energy or construction fields, together with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, committed to developing effective partnerships with all council departments and other organisations.
