Founded by King Edward VI in 1550, Sherborne is one of the oldest schools in the United Kingdom. Nestled in the market town of Sherborne and with a roll of approximately 600 pupils, the school offers a traditional, full boarding experience for boys aged 13-18 years old.
Steeped in history, the school takes pride in its heritage and academic tradition whilst remaining modern and forward thinking in its approach. In addition to academic study, Sherborne has an established reputation for sporting and musical excellence. Consisting of over 100 buildings, many of which are listed, the estate includes teaching, residential and administrative accommodation dispersed throughout the town.
In keeping with their vision, and to continue to inspire subsequent generations, the school has ambitious plans for the future and is soon to be embarking on the next stage of its strategic £22 million capital development programme. This will include the extensive renovation of a new boarding house and the completion of a state of the art sports centre. To help support deliver this exciting next phase, Sherborne School is now looking to appoint an outstanding Estates Bursar.
Tasked with leading, managing and motivating an Estates and services team of approximately 100 employees, the Estates Bursar will be responsible for the efficient and effective provision of estates planning, management and facility support activities; all of which will be underpinned by a strong service ethos. The post requires strategic vision, management expertise and practical experience. It will also carry with it substantial budgetary responsibility.
The successful candidate will possess demonstrable experience of leading an estate across a comparable diverse portfolio and be qualified in a relevant built environment discipline. You will be a strong communicator with extensive experience in instilling robust and efficient systems and processes to ensure operational effectiveness. Additionally the post holder will be expected to provide effective leadership and management on all Health, Safety & Environmental matters.
