BCP Council is looking for a Lead Officer to join our Regeneration Delivery Team to ensure that significant regeneration projects are delivered effectively; provide value for money; and achieve high quality, sustainable development that meets the needs and aspirations of our communities.

The Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole area faces a demand for over 2,000 new homes to be built each year over the next 16 years. To deliver these homes, as well as new offices and infrastructure, and realise the vision of a world class city region, as set out in its £2bn Big Plan programme, the Council will need to act at scale, deliver at pace and ensure development and placemaking of the highest quality.

BCP Council has adopted a commissioning model to regeneration and this new post will sit within the Council's delivery team supporting, challenging, and providing strategic guidance to the Council's key delivery partners.

The successful candidate must have a track record working on complex development projects, with valuation experience and proven understanding of development appraisals. A property related qualification is desirable such as Associate Member RICS or equivalent. The postholder will have a positive attitude, the ability to remain focused under pressure, and be confident challenging partner organisations to ensure the delivery of outcomes and high-quality services to specific deadlines.

The role will include: providing professional advice to Elected Members and senior management on a range of complex regeneration and development issues; developing and evaluating projects, ensuring that business cases and viability appraisals for new projects are adequately challenged and tested; building and maintaining effective relationships with strategic partners and local stakeholders; ensuring projects and programmes focus on achieving positive outcomes, consistent with local planning policies; and providing robust programme management and governance arrangements, including contract management.

The post is full-time (37hrs) and will be supporting our new Urban Regeneration Company and will be working alongside the Bournemouth Town Deal for Boscombe. For an informal discussion or to answer any questions please contact Sonia Huda at
