Land Manager – Full-Time Position (London Based)

MCR is a successful and entrepreneurial property development and investment company working across the UK with a pipeline in excess of 9000 residential units. From offices in Manchester, London, Birmingham, and Edinburgh MCR is actively involved in acquiring, promoting and developing new residential and commercial projects.

Purpose

MCR is planning to greatly increase its existing pipeline of both medium and long term sites across the UK. To enable this, MCR requires an experienced and qualified Land Manager to be based in our Mayfair office to lead and manage the process in accordance with the Company’s targets and objectives. The successful candidate will focus on acquisitions around the South of the UK, predominantly within an hour’s commute of Central London.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Land Manager / Buyer will be involved in:-

  • Development land and property identification and acquisition
  • Commercial negotiation
  • Agreeing the terms of legal agreements
  • Consultant team coordination, including planners, solicitors and land agents
  • Real estate portfolio management
  • Land use planning
  • Site appraisals
  • Producing detailed operational and progress reports

Knowledge and Experience

The Land Manager / Buyer will be expected to demonstrate a successful track record in:-

  • Sourcing multiple land opportunities both on and off market
  • Coordinating professional consultant input into site finding and promotion through the planning system
  • Negotiating a legal interest in land and property with owners and their agents on commercial terms
  • Understanding and generally dealing with legal agreements such as options and conditional contracts
  • Managing and coordinating a multi-site and project portfolio of land interests at varying stages of the development process
  • Carrying out financial and operational appraisals of potential development sites of varying scale and complexity
  • Having commercial awareness of the residential market countrywide and being able to research and assess development potential

Basic Requirements

The Land Manager / Buyer will have:-

  • A professional qualification such as MRICS or MRTPI (ideally)
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant post-qualification experience
