Health and Safety Officer

Role overview:

  • Performing risk assessments
  • Carrying out site inspections
  • Investigating incidents and writing up accident reports
  • Enforcing health and safety laws and regulations
  • Ensuring compliance with current health and safety (including fire safety) legislation
  • Providing in-house training sessions to ensure staff keep up to date with company safety regulations
  • Providing guidance on safety equipment
  • Manage all health and safety administration, ensuring that adequate records are maintained in accordance with legislative requirements, policies, codes of practice and procedures
  • Support contract managers, supervisors, foreman and site managers in the management of staff and subcontractors in relation to all health, safety, and environmental matters
  • Performing regular fire safety inspections and ensuring that electrical systems and firefighting equipment are well maintained and that they meet all necessary codes and regulations

 

Requirements:

  • Up to date knowledge of the Health and Safety legislation
  • A diploma in safety management (NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Member of IOSH
  • CSCS card
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
