Head of Economic Development

Do you have proven experience of leading a professional team to deliver major residential and commercial development projects to enhance towns and town centres and promote economic development and investment for business growth?

Our role involves all of this and much more. This is an exciting opportunity to work on active and interesting projects, in a location with a range of challenges and opportunities across a geographical area.

You will manage the delivery of the Council’s Economic Strategy through innovation and major economic growth initiatives; business engagement; and creating investment and business growth opportunities throughout the Borough whilst maximising the financial returns of Council assets.

You will ensure that the future economic growth in the borough benefits of all our local people and you will therefore work in an inclusive way with our partners and communities. In addition, you will drive the enhancement our Town Centres, and promote recovery in a post Covid-19 environment, supporting businesses, residents and visitors.

For this demanding role you will need to be ambitious, determined and commercially focused, with high level interpersonal skills for working closely with elected Members, for building strategic relationships with the LEP, government agencies and the private sector to develop and achieve economic prosperity for the Borough.

As the third largest authority in the North West and home to one of the strongest economies in the region, Cheshire East Council is an award winning and dynamic organisation determined to develop new ways of working and deliver excellent cost-effective services to our residents. The Council is embarking on a whole organisation transformation programme – Brighter Future Together – and this post will have a key role in taking the programme forward in the Place Directorate.
