The Barbican Centre is now looking for a Director for Buildings and Renewal - a role at the heart of its transformation and renewal ambitions ahead.
Barbican Renewal is a once-in-a-generation upgrade programme for the iconic listed building. The programme will care for the things people love about the Barbican Centre, while opening up the creative experience for everyone. It’s a chance to celebrate the Barbican’s vision and design heritage, while responding to the creative opportunities and challenges of the future. As well as delivering much needed infrastructure improvements, it will allow the Centre to share more of its spaces with more people and enhance the Barbican as a world class destination for art, education and enterprise.
This is a hugely ambitious senior leadership position. The incoming post holder will not only be leading on the long-term renewal plans for the Centre and but also be responsible for the significant impact the physical estate of the Barbican Centre has on the experience of millions of visitors, partners, staff, students, residents, artists and performers. The postholder will drive initiatives related to climate action and sustainability and offer a visionary and strategic approach to the renovation, growth, and management of the Centre’s buildings.
