Salary - £75k pa plus pension contribution and performance related discretionary annual bonus, and 20 days pa paid leave plus statutory holidays.
Hours of work - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the occasional requirement to work for short periods on occasional weekends

Reporting to - Chairman Redhill Aerodrome Ventures Ltd , with support and guidance from the Management Panel
Additional information - The person will be a statutory Director of the two operating companies.
An exciting role to drive the commercial success of the aerodrome, building on significant investment and progress to date, in the context of a potential medium/long term opportunity to redevelop the site as part of a sustainable new community.
Reporting to the Chairman of the parent company, hold board level responsibility for the two operating companies managing the aerodrome and the estate respectively. The role holder will be responsible for the financial management of the business and the compliant, safe and efficient operation of the aerodrome and the commercial estate, and will act as Asset Manager deriving, leading and delivering initiatives and properly managing the estate, and coordinating the activities of the external consultants. The role holder will assess and manage risks and priorities, derive evolve and execute strategies policies and procedures and business plans and deliver the objectives and priorities of the board.
With the support of the employed Financial Controller and guidance of the holding company Finance Director the roleholder will hold P&L responsibility for the two operating companies, including capex budgeting over short and medium term for individual projects and the companies as a whole.
The Aerodrome Manager will be the senior member of staff, with responsibility for the proper and efficient recruitment, retention, training and development, and management of staff. The aerodrome employs a full team of airfield management staff, including a very experienced Senior Air Traffic Control Officer / Airfield Manager, grounds maintenance, air traffic control and rescue and firefighting staff, together with an accounts team, facilities manager, receptionist, and casual staff.
The role holder will be the principal client contact for operations-related external consultants. A firm of Chartered Surveyors is retained to act as Property Manager, and to advise and assist with professional matters including agency, landlord and tenant, rating and building surveying matters. An experienced Building Surveyor is also retained to advise the Aerodrome on construction matters. Conveyancing and construction solicitors and public relations consultants are also retained.
A confident and commercially aware qualified Chartered Surveyor with extensive commercial property experience and preferably with an interest in General Aviation. An experienced and self-starting leader with strong ethics and integrity, who is able to engage positively at all levels, including with aviation users and commercial tenants, local stakeholders, relevant Authorities, external consultants and internal staff and the company board. The successful candidate will be proactive, resilient, pragmatic and flexible, as the role covers several different areas of work and disciplines. The role holder will need to be able to understand and carefully manage the sometimes differing landside / airside management and commercial priorities including the potential for future comprehensive redevelopment.
The role holder will need to become conversant with current UK General Aviation matters as well as maintaining knowledge currency in property related, and corporate compliance matters including policies and procedures, limits of delegation and authority, relevant legislation and codes and guidelines.
Essential Selection Criteria
- Full, current, professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
- Educated to at least degree level at a recognised UK institution.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with experience of reporting at board level and direct liaison with customers staff and external stakeholders
- Experience of managing (with line management responsibility) professional and administrative teams and appointing and managing external consultants
- Experience of full Profit and Loss and Budget and delivery accountability for projects and operational business units
- Extensive Commercial Property & Asset Management and/or Commercial Agency experience
- IT literate, competent in the use of MS Excel, Outlook and Word
- Full UK (Car) driving licence
Preferrable Selection Criteria
- Experience of managing airside property
- General Aviation industry experience
About Redhill Aerodrome
Redhill Aerodrome is a CAA licensed airfield. It consists of three licensed grass runways and a hard taxiway / perimeter track. Part of the southern taxiway operates as a CAA recognised unlicensed runway in the winter months when grass runways suffer from waterlogging. Infrastructure includes a control tower, airfield lighting, hard-standing for the parking of aircraft, and fuelling facilities.
The property comprises, including adjoining land under ownership, some 570 acres of land and property located some 3 miles South East of Redhill, and c.4 miles North East of Gatwick It includes some c.300,000 sq ft commercial premises and aerodrome infrastructure, let to third party aviation and non aviation tenants including agricultural tenants, with some in hand and vacant premises.
