About Wharfedale Property Management
We are a small commercial firm of Chartered Surveyors retained to manage and develop the Thorp Arch Estate on behalf of a large institutional property fund. The Estate is located 2 miles east of Wetherby and comprises almost 2 million sqft of commercial buildings within a 390-acre parkland setting and has seen significant investment in developments in the last 20 years. A ten year Masterplan is being prepared in conjunction with the planning authority for the continued regeneration of the Estate, which will result in further significant development.
Preferred Candidate
As a result of retirement, we are seeking an experienced and conscientious Chartered Surveyor who has an eye for detail and an ability to work within a small team whilst maintaining good working relationships with tenants, colleagues and other professionals within the team. The successful candidate will work closely with the long-standing Estate Manager and the Maintenance Manager and play a vital role in the management of the Estate’s 190 tenants.
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified Chartered Surveyor – ideally no less than two years post qualification
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experienced negotiator

- Driving licence
- Basic construction knowledge

The Role
- conducting viewings of commercial premises
- negotiating, issuing and agreeing Heads of Terms
- instructing Solicitors and overseeing the agreement of leases, licences for alterations and other legal documents
- responding to break notices
- instructing accounts agents to raise rent, service charge, insurance and other charges
- instructing consultants to provide EPC’s and other compliance requirements
- instructing contractors to carry out minor works and overseeing the works
- carrying out basic dilapidations surveys upon lease expiry
- instructing building consultants on larger dilapidations claims
- submitting insurance claims
- collection of rent, service charge and other sums

Salary Commensurate with experience

Working hours Monday – Friday 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
Holiday entitlement 25 days plus Bank Holidays

Pension Contributory pension scheme after completion of three-month probationary period.
