Assistant Surveyor - Development Viability

Hays Property and Surveying are seeking an Assistant Development Viability Surveyor to join an independent property consultancy based near the Hampshire / Surrey border. The consultancy are a specialist leader in providing strategic development viability advice to a range of clients within the Public Sector.
Your new role
Working within a small team of specialist consultants, you will be responsible for supporting Local Authorities, Housing Associations and other Local Government bodies. Here, the core principles of the role will involve assisting with and preparing economic viability evidence for Local Plans, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and other strategic planning projects. Additional work also includes the assisting with the compilation and review of bespoke viability assessments for specific sites and development projects; and auditing and appraising viability assessments submitted by the development industry.
Depending on experience specific duties may include, but not limited to;
- Undertaking development appraisals and auditing third party assessments
- Liaising and meeting with clients and project team members
- Undertaking research into costs and values to support analysis for valuations
- Assisting Directors with strategic viability projects on behalf of local authority clients
- Review and comment on representations, prepare for and attend Examinations in Public / Public Enquiries
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed within the role, you will ideally have experience in undertaking Development Viability Assessment work on behalf of the Public Sector. However, this role could typically suit candidates from and Development, Planning, Valuation or Housing Strategy background. Ideally, candidates with 1 - 4 years experience in any of these areas could be suitable, with full career development supported. You will ideally have
knowledge of the planning and development process and the ability to interpret property data for financial appraisal.
Alongside your technical experience, you will need to have a confident and personable manner, with a versatile and positive approach. In addition to this, you will hold a relevant degree, and desirably, a professional accreditation such as RICS / RTPI / CIH.
