Commercial Manager - MEP Building Services

£65,000 - £75,000 plus package


Capstone are working with an International Construction & Real Estate Consultancy, who are currently looking to recruit an MEP Commercial Manager to join their London team, and be responsible for leading the Commercial Management and Cost Management Services for their Building Services (MEP) projects.

The MEP Commercial Manager will lead a team providing client-facing services including Cost Consultancy and Employer's Agent roles, and leading on the delivery of commercial projects across an array of sectors including commercial office, industrial, healthcare, education, pharmaceutical, data centres, retail etc. The MEP Commercial Management role will facilitate the delivery of construction services via individual projects, or ongoing programmes.

  • Leading bid submissions and fee proposals for professional services
  • Client relationship/stakeholder management
  • Carrying out feasibility studies
  • Measurement services
  • Preparing plans, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
  • Attending client, design and contractor meetings
  • Running client tender/bid processes
  • Prepare and issue payment certificates
  • Manage change control & negotiate variations
  • Providing advice and forecasts about costs
  • Project Reporting
  • Review and recommend for Client's approval Contractor Final Accounts
  • Value Engineering exercises
  • Design Team procurement - including scoping of the consultant design packages and preparation of consultant appointments
  • Main Contract and Subcontract procurement advice and tender strategy
  • Undertake operational review of contract terms & conditions, with commentary advice
  • Liaise with legal counsels for negotiating amendments etc.
  • Pricing schedule preparation
  • Subcontractor package procurement, including scope
  • Pricing of variations
  • Monthly cost / value reconciliations reporting project and package
  • Final account preparation, negotiation and agreement

Experience Required

  • Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical or Quantity Surveying Degree
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a team based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiating, numeracy and analytical skills
  • Excellent IT skills and knowledge of relevant software
  • Exemplary communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Good legal and contractual knowledge
