Corporate Property Manager

Chelmsford is an authority fast emerging as the capital of Essex, a city achieving great things, and rapidly securing the recognition of its partners and peers.

With a population of over 165,000 residents, the City is a mixed urban/rural authority offering a broad range of high profile events and opportunities, including the V Festival.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to drive forward further change, improvement and customer satisfaction. As an investor in people, we offer excellent training and continued professional development opportunities. We provide a stimulating and supportive environment to deliver the highest quality of service to our residents and help you grow as an individual.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will take responsibility for the effective management of the Council’s high profile property asset portfolio. Your primary objective will be to drive up performance, ensuring that the potential of our assets is maximised and delivering for the good of the authority and the residents we serve.

You will work effectively across the organisation to provide advice and guidance to elected members, managers and staff on a range of Property-related issues. The scope and scale of the challenge you face will be highly variable, from addressing enquiries regarding existing holdings, to working with the private sector on new large scale projects.

We are seeking a qualified surveyor who thrives on big challenges. You will need to innovate to create opportunity whilst providing the robust, accurate and timely information and advice we need to ensure we make a difference across the City.

You will be an enabler/facilitator with real creativity and drive, who can work at a corporate level across the Council. You will need to be able to form robust arguments for the recommendations you make. Whether your background is in local government or in a similar complex stakeholder environment, you will possess a track record of maximising performance under testing circumstances and share our passion for excellence and innovation. You must understand people and how to get the best out of them.
